Many senior citizens do not realize, until it is too late, that if 

both spouses are on Social Security and one of them passes 

away, one of their checks will STOP.  The surviving spouse 

has the right to get the higher Social Security check, but 

he/she will lose the second check.  This could easily create 

unexpected financial distress for the surviving spouse.

 

We have a chance to change this potentially devastating policy.  We need to express to Congress our vision for a change so that the surviving spouse can continue to receive both checks and thus maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
